1. The writer is figuring out how students find themselves scholastically. And how their academic background affects their goals and in which genre they use, whether its text, online, e-mail etc.
2. The author uses different models to collect her data. She studied a lot of genres at a catholic college to come up with her final analysis. And she also asked a lot of questions to identify their activity through everyday.
3.Here at nova a lot of people express self representation through joining a greek organization, expressing themselves through poetry or dress code, and more importantly the peers they hang around

1.I'm not really sure. But i think he uses phrases like the root and tree, but then switches it to anohter ocmplete meaning, as if he said it for no reason.
2. I think he means by a situation you have to talk your way out of.
3.Exigense is imperfection marked by urgency, for example something that needs to be fixed. If i wore a white shirt and i spilled ketchup, i would have to change shirts, for example. Iwould talk someone into giving me a shirt.

controversy of drinking age
http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/YouthIssues/1064263072.html
The controversy of today seems to be the drinking age. There are some states that have lowered the drinking age to 18, instead of 21. I believe that once you're the age of 18 you're considered an adult. If we can buy ciggarettes at the age of 18 , which may i also add a leading cause of cancer, then why cant we buy liquor. At the age of 18 we can legally make a porn, legally have intercourse, go to jail, and many other things that shows we're an adult. Personally being that I come from the islands, we've been drinking since the age of 4, and we have no problem with questioning the drinking age.
Drinking liquor is justl ike another activity to teens, whether its legal or illegal, so the governemtn may as well jsut drop the age and raise the prices. Theres always a cause and effect and maybe dropping the age can help the economy of which we're in a recession.
